OBJECTIVES

Objective
Training students to obtain skills in order to use modern technologies to improve crop and livestock production in Cameroon through basic and applied research. These scientific tools should assist in the production of crops, fresh milk and milk products, beef, pork, mutton, fish and poultry products in abundance at very low cost.
Career Interests
1. Agricultural Economics
Trained for a wide variety of jobs in agricultural and non-agricultural oriented businesses, firms, and agencies in both the public and private sectors.
Possibility to go for Post Graduate studies
2. Animal Science
Graduates can work in livestock production and the extensive infrastructure that provides the products and services required for management, marketing and processing of livestock and livestock products.
Other career opportunities include sales, management, public relations, marketing, quality control and education.
3. Forestry
Graduates can have careers as forest and resource management professionals
Become scientists and lecturers after further studies.
4. Plant, Crop and Soil Science
Graduates may choose a career in:
Education—consulting, extension, or public relations;
Production agriculture—biofuel or seed production, farming, or farm management
Soil and water resource management—soil surveying, land appraisal, land use planning, conservation and pollution abatement, or watershed management
Environmental—pollution control and environmental protection as affected by plant-soil-water interactions.
5. Food Science and Technology
Prepares students for graduate school, corporate wellness positions, health promotion programs, the food industry, public health programs, pharmaceutical sales, clinical dietetics, medical and research laboratories, biotechnology firms, government agencies and related fields.
6. Environmental Science
Career choices include such areas as research and development, environmental consulting, remediation of wastes, site assessment and environmental sampling, and environmental law.
Graduates may find employment in government and non-governmental environmental agencies, in industries concerned with the generation and clean-up of hazardous wastes, with environmental advocacy and educational groups.
Also prepares students for professional and Post graduate school.
