The files of graduates having passed through the Bamenda University of Science & Technology (BUST) have been vetted by the Senate of the University of Buea (UB) and professional degrees have now been issued by UB to BUST graduates. To this effect, a press briefing ceremony was organized this July 23rd, 2011 at the Amphi Theatre of BUST to officially inform the public of the effective receipt of the first consignment of certificates now with the BUST administration.

Present during the occasion was the Chancellor (Hon. Somon Achidi Achu), Secretary General of INDECO, the Vice Chancellor (Prof. Joseph B. Suh), the Fon of Nkwen, specially invited quests, a cross section of BUST administration, staff and student, including pressmen.

The issuance of UB Certificates to BUST graduates falls in line with the Memorandum of Understanding and Mentorship Agreement signed between the two universities and on the strength of instructions from the Ministry of Higher Education requiring that all higher education degrees of private higher education institutions be issued by designated state universities.

During the last BUST Convocation that held on February 21, 2009, Chief Professor Abangma, representing the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, while underscoring the importance of professional higher education in Cameroon, lauded the high quality of BUST's course manuals which he exhorted the private university's administrators and staff to follow scrupulously. This done, he went on, UB would always play its mentoring role towards BUST, whose authorities , deeming they had adhered to the injunction to the letter, recently requested the University of Buea to issue certificates to their graduates.

It should be noted that Bamenda University of Science and Technology, authorised by a series of ministerial decrees of 2002, 2005 and 2008, respects the Anglo-Saxon tradition in course design and delivery. This may help explain why its main national affiliate is the University of Buea, though other partnership arrangements are under way with the University of Dschang. Internationally, this private university is affiliated to the University of Osnabrueck (Germany) and the University of Wales at Bangor (UK).

BUST operates four faculties: Health Sciences, Education, Agriculture and the Faculty of Economics, Law and Managements Sciences. The institution has also been approved to host a CISCO Network Academy. This Academy will run CISCO Courses such as: CCNA (Exploration and Discovery), CCNA Security and other CISCO Courses.
