"Today, Monday the 21st of May in the year of our Lord, twenty twelve, I am indeed happy to welcome you to this campus. You have come in your numbers to celebrate with us the first ever Founders’ Day of the Bamenda University of Science and Technology (BUST). Thank you and welcome to our campus as we remember our Founders.
It was my late husband’s dream as far back as 1960, to see a Government University of Science and Technology in Bambili. For one reason or the other, this dream did not come to pass.
Luckily and happily he and 75 other personalities from different breadwinning activities in life, came together in 1995 and created the Industrial and Educational Development Company (INDECO) Ltd., proprietor of BUST".
Extrated from Mrs. Anne A. Foncha's speech, on the occasion of the 1st founder's week at BUST.
The Chancellor and Visitor of BUST, The Vice Chancellor, BUST, The Prefect of Mezam, The Sub/Prefect of Bamenda III, The Lord Mayor Bamenda III Council, The Parliamentarian for Bamenda and Bali, Traditional and Religious Leaders here present, Distinguished Invitees, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Today, Monday the 21st of May in the year of our Lord, twenty twelve, I am indeed happy to welcome you to this campus.
Luckily and happily he and 75 other personalities from different breadwinning activities in life, came together in 1995 and created the Industrial and Educational Development Company (INDECO) Ltd., proprietor of BUST,
INDECO’s first product which went operational in January 1998. We have evolved and grown gradually but most importantly qualitatively. We are pacesetters and will continue to believe in vision before action to avoid confusion and illusion in University education.
I am happy and thank God the Almighty, that as I hold the fort to make my late husband’s dream a reality, I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy a healthy relationship with the Administration and Faculty of BUST.
The Rt. Hon. Simon Achidi Achu, BUST Chancellor and Visitor, has been a blessing and inspiration. His assiduous and punctual attendance at all BUST celebrations is evidence that we mean business.
I will like to remember on this Remembrance Day, all the shareholders of INDECO. I want to thank God for the work the various Vice Chancellors and Faculty have done to make BUST what she is today. Permit me make a run down of the Vice Chancellors since 1998; Professors Daniel N. Lantum, Late Dr. John Nkengong Monie, Prof. Johnson G. Jato, Prof. Elias M. Nwana, Late Prof. Moses Fon Asanji, and currently Prof. Joseph B. Suh, whose collegiate action with his Administrative colleagues, Faculty and students has given this day its spirit and letter.
I wish to seize this opportunity to thank the University of Buea for the present partnership, and the University of Dschang for the pending partnership with BUST. The authorities of these two Universities have been very forthcoming and we greatly appreciate this relationship.
I cannot forget to thank the Ministry of Higher Education for continuous administrative and technical guidance, the local administration, the Rectors and Vice Chancellors of our sister Higher Institutions and our friends of goodwill, who have come to give this occasion the pomp and pageantry it deserves.
Once more, welcome and have a very agreeable stay with us.
Mrs. Anne A. Foncha.
